Besides, the man not only buys and sells used dolls, he also welcomes the dolls the factory won’t sell: those that came out of the mold damaged or disfigured. With a little time and silicone, the doctor can fix almost anything. But a broken doll isn’t a problem. Plenty of people, the Doll Doctor says, just want a doll’s torso.

This sex exploitation film, directed by Dwain Esper in the 1930s, capitalized on taboo subjects such as venereal disease, sex before marriage, lesbianism, etc. while skirting the Motion Picture Production Code of 1930 which forbade a film from containing such content.

Films like this would tour the US - mostly being shown in rundown, skid row theaters. This film has been re-edited and re-titled ("Human Wreckage", "They Must Be Told", "Trial Marriage", "About Trial Marriage") many times to attract the same audience to film, to take advantage of a taboo subject which may have gotten press recently or to appease local censors who disapproved of the film's content.

Olivier Peyricot was showing the Plateaux Vivre Nu for the République Libre du Design show at the Centre Culturel Francais. The installation aims to incite us to regain possession of our house by means of nudism. (in case you were wondering: no, i don't really know what it means either).
