3G virus vaccine

SK Telecom, Korea’s main mobile communications company, has developed the world’s first virus vaccine, dubbed V3Mobile. This immunization system shields mobile phones based on wireless Internet protocol interoperability from mobile viruses.

The program enables users to check for a virus in their handset, and to detect any virus in download files while accessing the Internet. It also offers the basic vaccine functions provided by PCs: a vaccine engine update, a virus check-up record management and a virus reporting function.

SK Telecom plans to commercialize the program by the third quarter of this year.
